Heat Exchanger (HX) Testing

Building on our expertise in heat exchanger design and optimization, our laboratory enables physical testing to verify new designs and gather additional data to make our models more accurate and reliable.

The OTS R&D laboratory in Beltsville, MD includes two temperature and humidity-controlled wind tunnels for the purposes of testing air-to-refrigerant heat exchangers (HXs).

Let us partner with you to get the most out of your heat exchanger designs and fully understand performance across a range of conditions.

  • HX Installation in Wind Tunnel with people support

    Air-to-Refrigerant

Air-to-refrigerant testing, primarily for tube-fin and microchannel designs, using water, glycol or refrigerant, including propane and other A3 fluids.

  • Understanding Frost Development

Testing to understand frost development and defrost performance with enhanced visualization capability.

  • Fluid to Fluid

    Fluid-to-Fluid

Testing coaxial and braze plate heat exchangers using water, glycol and refrigerant.
